The Post and Courier is a daily newspaper published in Charleston, S.C.[1][2] The paper is owned by Evening Post Industries, which publishes The Post and Courier under the umbrella of The Post and Courier, LLC.[3]
Circulation
As of February 2016, the paper’s circulation is 87,817 copies, making The Post and Courier the largest newspaper by circulation in South Carolina.[2][4]
History
The Post and Courier is the oldest daily newspaper in the traditional southern United States and traces its roots to two newspapers: The Courier, founded in 1803, and The Evening Post, founded in 1894.

In 1926, The Courier, which had then become The News and Courier, was purchased by The Evening Post Industries Company. Both newspapers maintained separate news staffs until the 1980s, when those staffs were combined.
In 1991, the two papers were merged to become The Post and Courier. The newspaper is published by The Post and Courier, LLC.[3]

Recognition
The Post and Courier earned the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service gold medal in April 2015 for its reporting on domestic violence in South Carolina. It was the paper's first Pulitzer Prize in 90 years.[5] In March 2015, the paper 'claimed 97 press awards and the President’s Cup for Excellence' from the South Carolina Press Association.[6]
